The End of Suburbia

What's the commentary's main claim?
A: The "Suburbia" is going to an end.

What's the background of the problem?
A: Peak oil

What reasons provided in support of the claim? Which is convincing and which is not so convincing.
A:The reason is that oil is going to run out and other source of energy is not a possible solution.
The convincing part is that the oil is running out because there are lots of expert say that and giving us detail about the date base. The not so convincing part is the film-maker just deny the possibility of the others solution with out evidence.

What counter-arguments dose the film-maker deal with?
A: Hydrogen, Corn grown in the field, oil can increase

What are some of implications of the problem?
A: The house price of the suburbia may increase. The cost of traffic in suburbia may increase. In an end, people can not use oil as a resource for the car.

Dose the author discuss any solutions to the problem?
A: Yes, a new type of house, new-urban.

My opoin of the documentary

This documentary interview a lot of experts and gives a solution about the suburbia problem.

In some part, it is convicing such as the oil problem and the pressure of the suburbia life. But in some other aspects, this documentary is not so good.

First of all, this documentary use a so large topic "peak oil" that what his conclusion"subrubia" seems too small, I think the name of the documentary should be "The end of morden life".

Secondly, the documentary is not balance, the author just want the auduence to belive him and raise little conter-arguments and even those conter-arguments are not trated evenly.

Thirdly, the author talks little about the difference between suburbia and the new-urban, that makes the conclusion of the documentary weak.

Last but not the least, the logic of the documentary is very funny, Peak oil->the end of suburbia->there is not solution to replace oil->we can use new-urban. How can the new-urban solve the oil problem? People live in new-urban will not use the car? That style of house can solve the industry use of oil? I think this documentary is an AD inside.
