Frame is a kind of structure. It is composed by two parts: the elements and the scenario. The elements form the things and the scenario is the inside logical of the things. The lecture gives us an example, the hospital has nurses, doctors, equipments and so on, these are elements. When a person goes into a hospital, should doctor operate, that is the scenario.
Academic rigor is a process by which faculty use various techniques to challenge continuously a student beyond his or her self-expectations. These methods might include any number of traditional teaching tools—challenging reading and writing assignments, difficult exams, engaging discussions, tougher grading standards—but what they all have in common is the goal of greater challenge.
Academic success is a measure of the success one achieved in the academic world. It can be present by the prize by fund, the paper, the book and even the university position. It is more important to a professor than other people.
Exam life is a situation that the student always face to. The student may be tested several times in a whole semester, and run out of energy to do anything else.

Online gambling
In my point of view, I against the online gambling.
Firstly, online gambling is very easy to access so that it is lack of protection. Not only young people can be harmed by it but also the adult. Although the online form can give people a unreal feeling that they will spend more money on it, what it cost is truly real. It is easy to lose a billion dollar in ten minute. The online form is out of control.
Secondly, the legalize of gambling online may cause a social financial problem. Because there is an opportunity to earn big money, some person, who have weak self-control would feel working hard is boring and more likely to go to gamble than work in office. That will harm the economic very much.
Thirdly, online gambling has safety problem. Once one lose his credit card, the one who get that can use that for gamble. It is very dangerous for all the people. Although there would be a limited amount for one day, that zero risk opportunity is a drawback.
As a conclusion, the online gambling is so hard to regulate and can harm so many people, I against to legalize it.

To win a basketball game
Sometimes, two team can play a score such as 100:99, but after the game, we can only remember which one is the winner. What makes the difference between the two team and cause the one-point? I think there are about 5 main factors lead a team to the victory: defence, offence, the rebound, the star, and the determination of the whole team.
The fundamental part of a basketball game is the defence. A saying that 'the offence is how many points you can get, but the defence is how many wins you can get' is very reasonable. A good example of that is Boston Celtics of NBA wins the 2007-2008 title finally because their defence is the best in the league.
Moreover the offence is also an important part of the game. Only a good defence is not enough to win a game, the way to win is to score more than others. Because it is harder to offence, so it take the second place.
The rebound can be seen as a terminal of a defence or an offence. So if you can get more chance to offence than your opponent, there will be more opportunity to win the game.
Always, the whole team may be drawn in a big trouble, no one can score in a long period, so the star of the team, who can easily get point should stand out and then lead the team to be a more tough group.
The determination is very hard to describe. That should be seen as a not-so obvious reason for the win. But when the team is lost 30 points, there will be opportunity to win.
The five factor can lead the win of a basketball game.

The End of Suburbia
What's the commentary's main claim?
A: The "Suburbia" is going to an end.
What's the background of the problem?
A: Peak oil
What reasons provided in support of the claim? Which is convincing and which is not so convincing.
A:The reason is that oil is going to run out and other source of energy is not a possible solution.
The convincing part is that the oil is running out because there are lots of expert say that and giving us detail about the date base. The not so convincing part is the film-maker just deny the possibility of the others solution with out evidence.
What counter-arguments dose the film-maker deal with?
A: Hydrogen, Corn grown in the field, oil can increase
What are some of implications of the problem?
A: The house price of the suburbia may increase. The cost of traffic in suburbia may increase. In an end, people can not use oil as a resource for the car.
Dose the author discuss any solutions to the problem?
A: Yes, a new type of house, new-urban.
My opoin of the documentary
This documentary interview a lot of experts and gives a solution about the suburbia problem.
In some part, it is convicing such as the oil problem and the pressure of the suburbia life. But in some other aspects, this documentary is not so good.
First of all, this documentary use a so large topic "peak oil" that what his conclusion"subrubia" seems too small, I think the name of the documentary should be "The end of morden life".
Secondly, the documentary is not balance, the author just want the auduence to belive him and raise little conter-arguments and even those conter-arguments are not trated evenly.
Thirdly, the author talks little about the difference between suburbia and the new-urban, that makes the conclusion of the documentary weak.
Last but not the least, the logic of the documentary is very funny, Peak oil->the end of suburbia->there is not solution to replace oil->we can use new-urban. How can the new-urban solve the oil problem? People live in new-urban will not use the car? That style of house can solve the industry use of oil? I think this documentary is an AD inside.

American Advertisements Changes Over the Years
Intro:
This post of blog makes a comparison between Ads from the 1950s and current Ads. It is very easy to observe the technical difference between the two decades. Also, the concept and the public taste changes more than I expect. From the 20 ads I see in the class to draw a conclussion about the ads change over 60 years.
The change of technical is easy to ovserve. The ads is always public on TV, in 1950s, black-white TV is the only choice. But in nowadays, TV with real-color, 512-color, even more color can be seen in the new LED or LCD TV. When I cooperation want to make a new ad, they will never afraid the audience can not see the whole information of the ad.
The 1950s ads' music is different from the modern's, that may be one more example that the technology is developed. The different is not only focus on the kind of music be used, but also about the chord tech used in the ads music. In the 1950 ads, the songs and the musics always have few channels of voice, maybe less than 8. So when I heard that sound, I know it is the old one. The modern ads are more active, there are so many channels that the music and songs are like in the real world, or a more real one. The modern ad bout the Whirlpool is a good example, throughout the whole ad, powerful rock music is played. Although the ad tells about the boring things: how to use this whirlpool, the music gives me the passion to go on with it.
In 1950s, the advertisement is always introduce the function of the goods and may tell the audience that the price of the goods. Sometimes they also focus on how to use the goods. The Colgate and the Listerine even the Whirlpool are all just like the manual of the product. In the modern ones, the AD is more likely to tell a short story which is related with the product. One of the modern AD for Ford car is very interesting. Which tells a short story that two polices can not resist the charm of the Ford sports car that try to drive it. If we just watch the first half of the AD, the 1950s ads would tell you what they sell but the modern ones would make you very confuse, even you can not find out what kind of product they want to sell.
If the change of concept about the product is not so impressed, the change of society view is large enough to draw my attention. There is no black man or Asian in the 1950s ads, only white people could be seen in the screen. The kids, the women and the men were all white. In nowadays, not only there is no prejudice on the race, skin with all color can join into an AD, but also the different culture can be seen in the advertisement. In a new Pepsi AD, the Chinese elements such as Kongfu and Shaolin are all in it. Such changes suggest the AD become a more widely carrier of the society will.
The modern ads face to almost all kind of people, from the kids to the old and from the sports men to the housewife. Even the president would publish an AD for the next selection. In 1950s, the ads were almost face to the housewife, the product were always for the daily use. This change indicate the audience of the AD is more widely than ever before.
From the ads in different decades, we can see the law's change. We can find many Cigarettes ads in 1950s but can not find a single modern one. Because the law of the advertisement about the cigarettes has been change and that kind of AD could not longer public on the TV set. The ads can be a notebook of the society, maybe not so detailed, but at least one aspect of it.
As the advertisement plays a more and more critical role in the modern society, the quality and the quantity are all changed over the past 60 years. We saw the difference between the 1950s and the moderns, but it's hard to image what the ads will be in 10 years later. The advertisment is amazing.

How to find a good source in library
To find a good source in a library, one must know about what to find and what is satisfy the requirement. It is very important because there are so many sources in the library. For graduate student, it is also used in writing paper.
The student can get advise form his advisor and then know the main direction about the source. Then get into the library website to search the book name and abstract. The area can be a bit larger than what the student want in that case there will be more selections. Not all, or all not source satisfy the requirement, that is OK. Take a few more times until get the final results. Making a backup for the source is very important too. Maybe the source the student already searched may be forgotten in a week, he have to search once more to get it. So finding the APA links of the papers is very convenience, email them to the backup email address, the student can find it whenever he want.

Kopits in the interview talks about the different feedback from the East coast and Texas when analysing the topic peak oil. He points out that in DC or New York it's in need to use "peak oil" in quotes and be cautious when mention this topic, however, in Huston the peak oil is a "daily operating reality" more than a "theoretical concepts."

Two Paragraph
1st: Organic Soil Paragraph
The addition of organic matter improves soil in several ways. The soil can benefit from it in three main ways. Fristly, it can improve the soil structure. If the soil is too hard, the organic matter will loosens it. Also, it can give the sandy soil holding ability, which is very important for the plants. Secondly, the addition of organic matter increases the ability to retain moisture. It can act as a sponge or reduce erosion which are all helpful to retain moisture of soil. Last but not the least, the addition of organic matter can raise level of fertility of soil. It works in two ways. One is to breaks organic matter down and the second is builds up humus. Both ways can raise the level of fertility. In conclusion, the incorporation of organic matter into the soil is an important farming practice that can significantly improve the productivity and long-term viability of agricultural land.
2nd Solar Energy Paragraph
Solar energy as a heat source for homes has potential, but there are some problems that need to be resolved. The benefits of the solar energy is very easy to find. Compared to the gas or electrical enengy, the solar energy is unlimited and nonpollution energy, all of us can use it without promission. Also, this resource is not controlled by humans, so the people would not worry about the property of this resource of energy. Although solar energy has so many benefits, it still meets some probelms. The construction of collection devices cost very high so the people who want to use this energy has to pay for a large bill first. Moreover, the collection of the energy is not perfected, the sun gives so much energy but we can only collection one small part of it. Also the collectors are not very sightly is another shortcoming. In conclusion, to use solar energy for homes is very good choice but needs more thinking.

How to overcome a difficult in studying basketball
I am a fan of NBA and I spend a lot of time to play basketball in my spare time. As most of the fans, my playing is not good. I admire the player who can play in the gym and fight for their own class.
To improve the skill of the basketball is the most important thing to do in my schedule, in that case, I may play for my class, department, even the school. I go up at 6 every morning and train myself in the gym, after 3 months, I found myself stronger and quicker. But the skill still bad. In a music shop, I saw a dvd named "Jordan teach you play basketball". I buy it and watch it at night, I found it is very usful for me. I learn the fade-away, jump shoot, cross-over and so on. After 3 months more, I enrolled in my class team as a small forward.
Now, I can enjoy myself not only in the TV watching NBA but also in the playground of basketball.

Time management
As a graduate student, to manage time is as important as study in the course. There are too many spare time for the graduate student to spend in a semester.
I will score the things to do as three levels. The first level is the things that easy to manage but important, such things cost little time but has critical effect. It’s better to finish those things in the schedule as soon as possible. The second level is the things that a bit hard to do but important. Although that may cost more time to finish those things, not finishing them may influence the whole plan of the time. The third level should be others, if there is not enough time to finish the third level, reschedule is no need, just choose some and give some up is ok. So, in the schedule list, all tasks should belong to the three levels.
Also, an electrical reminder on the PC is a very good means to manage the tasks. When you open the computer, you get to know what to do this day and what to do tomorrow, everything is under control, that kind feeling is very comfortable.
To manage time and task is to save time and money, it is one of the most important thing we should learn to.
